St Chrysostom’s CE Primary School believe that improved school attendance can only be achieved if it is viewed as a shared responsibility of the school staff, governors, parents, pupils and the wider school community

In your role as parents we request that you:

  • Talk to your child about school and what goes on there. Take an interest in your child’s work and progress

  • Contact the school if your child is absent to let them know the reason why and the date they will return.

  • Wherever possible make appointments for the Doctors, Dentists etc. outside of school hours

  • Your child should not be kept off school for the following reasons;

    • A pupil’s or family member’s birthday
    • Visiting relatives
    • Shopping for uniforms
    • Having their hair cut
    • Closure of a brother/sisters school for INSET /holidays
    • “Couldn’t get up”
    • Illness where the child is considered well enough to attend ie ‘bit of a cold’, ‘feeling a bit sick’, ‘has a headache’
    • Holidays taken without the authorisation of school

  • Ask the school for help if your child is experiencing difficulties

  • Have a routine at home, for example, bed times, home work, preparing school bag and uniform the evening before

  • Talk to your child about the value of education and regular school attendance.

  • Encourage your child to look to the future and want to do well.

    These are our attendance groups

    Gold Attendance Group = 100% - 97%

    Green Attendance Group = 97% - 90%

    Amber Attendance Group = 90% - 80%

Red Attendance Group = Less than 80%

Pupils are rewarded for good attendance at school. The class who wins the weekly attendance receives £10 to spend on whatever they like.

We also award badges, books and vouchers for excellent attendance.

Being on time for school is equally important. We have put into place systems to enable your child to be at school on time.

We have two walking buses that collect children from home and the school also hosts a Breakfast Club from 8.00am where the children can get cereal, toast and juice.

If you are interested in these services, please contact the school office.
